Theres a reason to have wifi.. It means your on a network that can be connected to. Better yet, use the download manager, which is part of the installer.app. It downloads all the apps and packages you'll need as you complete the jailbreak process. I find that to be very efficient. As for the ZiPhone not updating, this is probably because you are not connected to wifi, or it takes too long for apple to release an update. Check the downloads section. If you don't see the latest update, then it will update you on its own.
